This site is for those that want to know how to heal from arthritis and other inflammatory ailments naturally, and have the drive, motivation and willpower to change their habits.
Most people don’t know the multitude of factors surrounding  inflammatory disease, or how to make the changes that matter most.
I say “Healed” in the sense that inflammation, pain, and functional impairment can often be reversed and controlled through lifestyle and dietary changes – sometimes to the point of complete remission.  Ongoing care and maintenance is often required.

This site presents scientific research into the underlying causes and biological mechanisms that drive inflammation contributing to arthritis and many other chronic diseases. It examines lifestyle factors that can be actively managed to improve long-term health. Diet, dietary triggers, and the interaction between the gut microbiome and the immune system are central, but maximum improvement requires a holistic approach. Through extensive study, review of what has worked for others, and years of personal experimentation, I have refined existing approaches into my own lifestyle and dietary protocols, which I use to maintain controlled remission.

I was born in 1978 in Sydney, Australia. I’ve been a gymnast, motocross rider, engineer, solo ocean sailor, teacher, father, self-taught boat builder, house builder, yacht delivery skipper, website builder including deliveryskippers.com.au and now this website, Heal Arthritis Naturally.
I developed intense Inflammatory Arthritis in 2015 and spent years in pain working out its cause.
I have an Advanced Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, yet I have spent many times more time studying health and nutrition over the past decade than all other qualifications combined.

By following or returning to specific protocols as needed, I can maintain zero pain without meds. I’d like to show you how I maintain remission. 

It is my wish to teach you the science, the tools and the protocols that reduce inflammation, pain, and disease. I can help you identify the causes of inflammation so you can reduce or eliminate it.

My protocols have many similarities but also unique differences to other lifestyle medicine sites.

At my worst it hurt to breathe and I could not walk.

I have a lot of compassion for those suffering a similar fate. Even moderate back pain reduces quality of life.

Lifestyle changes are hard to implement and even harder to study scientifically due to the vast number of variables and difficulty with compliance. 

Double-blind, placebo-controlled trials are extremely difficult to conduct for dietary interventions, because participants necessarily know what they are eating. As a result, much of the nutrition literature is graded as lower-certainty evidence, despite strong mechanistic support and consistent findings across multiple study types.

I know of others, pioneers, that have helped thousands of people recover from, or significantly reduce R.A. Ankylosing Spondylitis, inflammatory arthritis and other inflammatory based diseases.

Most people do not know about them. Their stories are drowned in a sea of information.

Many Rheumatologists do not know about these cases. 

The path is narrow, hard to find and full of distractions.

Training Lags Science

Many Doctors and Rheumatologists were trained to believe that diet, lifestyle and mindset, had little to do with Arthritis. That these inflammatory conditions were treatable only with pharmaceuticals.

Dietitians are generally trained to stick to food pyramids and a “Balanced diet” or suggest a anti inflammatory diet such as the Mediterranean diet – Which may help a little, but from my experience, will steer you down the wrong path if you are looking for substantial remission.

Some doctors are now working with the more motivated patients holistically, but not many doctors are aware of all the aspects of the puzzle, so the results are mediocre and they return to medications.

There are many lifestyle medicine advocates, but none of them had all the answers I needed to get completely pain free. So I digested a huge amount of research and over time and after extensive testing, I developed my own protocols. Then built this site. 

Evidence Regarding my Remission

To be clear, I have no pain and no symptoms and am taking no medication. But it is not a total cure.

I need to take care, to protect my health and microbiomes in order to stay in remission. 

When the tiniest bit of pain or inflammation surfaces because I have strayed from the path, I know the sure path back to a pain free life. This knowledge relieves a lot of anxiety and worry. I am in control. 

A pain free healthy life is worth the trouble!
